Weekly Update 03/22/2022

Greetings!

Matt, Chris, Butch, Andy, and I joined designer and builders this afternoon to do the final “punch list” for our building renovation and expansion. With blue tape handy, various little details (all small) were noted to put the finishing touches on this project so that we can start using it soon. We are really pleased with the roominess of the spaces, as we’ve been making space for making disciples. I think that you will be pleased with the areas where we’ll be teaching and training disciples and those we pray will be disciples, from bed babies to adults.

With the finishing touches ahead, we’re happy to announce that on April 10th, after a two-year hiatus, we’ll resume our Bible Study Groups (Sunday School)! Make plans to be part of that first Sunday in the classes provided for all ages to study God’s Word together! We start at 9:00 a.m. on April 10th.

To be ready for our April 10th Bible Study Group start date (did I say, April 10th? Oh yes!), we need a strong team of volunteers for our April 2nd Work Day. We’ll meet that day, regardless of weather, to move things in place for our classes and spruce up the building. Weather permitting, we’ll be doing our annual Spring outdoor work the same day, so bring your yard tools and get ready to enjoy working side-by-side with others! If the weather won’t allow us to do what we need outdoors on the 2nd, then count on April 9th for outdoor work. Thank you for serving!

Be sure to be part of the Wednesday night STINT class, Taming the Tongue, at 6:30. the discussion the past two weeks has been so helpful! This week the ladies will be discussing chapters 3–4 and the teenagers will be discussing Greg Gilbert’s Can I Trust the Bible, chapter 5.

I’ve spent a good bit of time meditating on the two passages that I preached over the past two weeks from Acts 20. I think they’re central to how we understand the way we’re to live together as faithful followers of Jesus. I hope you’ll do some more reflecting on what we considered on Sunday, especially the way that Romans helps us to get practical hands and feet around “the whole purpose of God.” You can check out the notes and the sermon here.

Few passages affect those shepherding the flock more than the passage that Pastor Matt will be expounding on Sunday from Acts 20, beginning in verse 28. Please read and think on that text. Pray for your pastors/elders and teachers. Plead with the Lord to work mightily in those of us who feed God’s Word to the flock.

Warmly,
Phil N.
