Welcome to South Woods

...the history of South Woods began a long time before 1987. Yes, people did things in those four decades, but it was because Someone else acted. In fact, the history of this congregation is the history of Christ’s rule—His providence, His provision, His mercy—on behalf of a people.

For a deeper survey of what is important to us as a church,  listen to the sermons below.

A Tree Planted

Acts 2:41-47
...God is sovereign in the planting and preservation of His people—the church. And that’s not just in the past, that’s true in the present, and the future...We get to participate, but He’s the source.

A Tree Planted by Streams of Water

Psalm 1
The one that delights in and meditates upon the Word of God is planted in stability, its roots anchor it alongside streams of water that keep its vitality, producing fruit in season, and in the heat of summer it does not wither.
And if that’s what the Psalmist says the Word does in God’s people, what else would we as a church center our lives around?

A Tree Growing Together

Ephesians 4:1-6
We didn’t create [the unity of the Spirit]. We maintain it.
And not just in abstract, theoretical terms, but in personal, practical ones.
Because by His Spirit, He’s created unity among His people at South Woods. He’s made us one. So, might we—with humility, gentleness, and patience—be diligent to preserve what He’s made possible.

A Tree that Multiplies

Matthew 28:18-20
...what Jesus possesses, what Jesus prioritizes, and what Jesus promises have been changing the landscape of this world for millennia. This text is calling us all to join His new-creation work.

Trees Flourishing

Psalm 92
...first, these trees—the righteous ones—are planted in a place devoted to the worship of God. And, secondly, it's in that place that they flourish.
