Weekly Update 03/08/2022

Greetings!

Even though Spring can’t make its mind up if it’s spring or winter, we’ve made our mind up . It’s time (nearly) to start back our Bible Study Groups (a.k.a. Sunday School)! We talked with the construction company today and it seems clear, Lord willing, that we’ll be able to start back with what we’ve missed for 2 years, meeting to study the Word together before our worship services. Be ready in early April!

But, to see the Bible Study Groups getting started, we need all hands on deck for the Work Day on April 2nd. We have lots of outside work to do, as we do every Spring. While we always do spring-cleaning, this time we have lots of things stored in nook-and-crannies in the building to be put into classrooms. We’ll have sprucing up to do, for sure, but getting all the classrooms back into good shape will be the big aim. Please make plans to join us for Work Day on April 2nd. If it happens to rain, we’ll push the outside work only to the next Saturday, but we will still need to do the inside work on April 2nd. Thank you for volunteering!

I’m thrilled that our adults and students will be returning to study the Epistle to the Romans. The first few weeks will get the classes back to speed on Romans, then we’ll jump into Romans 7. Our children’s classes have been meeting twice each month on Wednesdays, so they will be ready to move into action. It will be wonderful to have our preschoolers on a regular basis on Sundays! They are quick learners who will thrive with the faithful leadership in that area teaching them.

We get started tomorrow night with the Ladies working through Jeff Robinson’s excellent book, Taming the Tongue. Free copies are available on the book rack. Men will follow on March 16th. This is an extremely practical book to help us understand the theology of talking, while making application to the right use of speech as Christians. I’ve already been helped by reading it. Join us at 6:30 p.m. for this newest STINT study.

We saw Sunday in Pastor Matt’s sermon about how Christians are to be regularly exhorting one another. What a great reminder! You can check it out here. As Paul travels to Miletus, he meets up with the elders of the Ephesian church where he delivers one of the most important messages found in Acts for the church. We’ll spend three weeks working through this memorable passage starting this Sunday. Hope to see you then.

Update: Attached is an updated ministry bio for Daniel Thompson. Please print and add it to your copy of our Mission and Ministry Prayer Guide.

Warmly,
Phil N.
