Weekly Update 10/19/2021
Good morning!
We're inching closer to utilizing our new space! Thank you for your continued faithful support of this important project in the life of South Woods. We've branded it in our minds - Making Space for Making Disciples!
Mercy for Memphis - Please pray for fruit from the time spent sharing the gospel at Shelby Farms. It is encouraging to hear of the opportunities that God placed before those who shared. Speaking of opportunities, in the coming weeks we'll be giving away many of the items that the volunteers helped to organize this past Sunday evening. It can now be inventoried and will take much less effort to share with those in need. Thanks to you all who helped!
This Sunday we’ll enjoy our annual Elder Burger Fall Picnic! We’re excited to rejoin this special tradition of grilled burgers, good sides, and great fellowship. Remember, we’re doing things differently this time. Instead of asking you to bring side dishes, we’ll be providing the side dishes and serving them. If you prefer to bring your own food, certainly, that’s fine. But please note that on the sign up so that we can plan appropriately. You can sign up here. There’s also a spot for you to indicate your willingness to help with cleaning up after the picnic. And don't forget that we plan to start serving at 5:00 but come early and enjoy the fellowship!
Also, this coming Sunday we’ll be observing the Lord’s Supper and asking you to welcome some new members that have recently gone through our membership process. We’re thankful for those the Lord has brought our way.
The wisdom God granted James for the sake of peace and sanctification is on display in Acts 15. You can read the sermon manuscript below.
Pastor Matt will be preaching this Sunday as we see how the early church leaders were led by the Holy Spirit to agree for the good of the churches. Pray for him as he prepares to open the Word to us on Sunday.
