Weekly Update 01/12/2021

Good afternoon,

Sunday gave us the opportunity to gather so that we might petition our King, listen to Him speak, and worship Him as His people. If you were unable to join us, you can read, watch, or listen to the service here.

During that sermon, I illustrated one of the points by recalling a conversation I had with Ms. Pernie Hester a few years ago. I actually thought about that conversation fitting that sermon's point before I remembered the 2per focus for this month was in honor of her. Once I remembered that, the matter was settled. If you didn't know, Pernie's family will graciously match South Woods' giving to missions during the month of January. You can always give to those causes at our website or on the South Woods app. Screen Shot 2020-04-15 at 11.58.45 AM (1).png
Speaking of that, keep in mind that each week the sermon manuscript, the video of the service, that week's songs for worship, and the bulletin are all loaded onto the South Woods app. I'm deeply thankful for those who faithfully upload that stuff to serve the body.
We were grateful to have a number of you join us this past Sunday night too. If you've not read Habakkuk in a while, let me encourage you to sit down and do so. Jim introduced the study Sunday night. We'll look at the next passage on Sunday night, January 31st.
We'll be back to our three–service structure (Sat. 6:00; Sun. 9:30 and 11:00) for this coming weekend. Go ahead and take a look at Pastor Phil's text for this coming Sunday in Acts 4:23–31. I look forward to considering the prayer of those who'd just been bullied and ordered to disobey their God. You can sign up for those worship services here.
Again, we keep saying this, but dividing the body into three services is not what we find to be the pattern of the New Testament church. So we eagerly anticipate the day when we can express our unity by gathering as one body. But, until then, we're so appreciative of the unity of the body in considering one another while we're in the midst of these circumstances. Thank you.

Tomorrow night the Ladies will join together to study the next couple chapters of Gentle and Lowly (16–17).
All of Christ's blessings to you this day,
Matt
P. S. Mike Meadors told us that Kim's surgery went well yesterday. Thank you for interceding for them. Do be praying for Steve Alm (Emily Knack's father) who will be having surgery this Thursday in Nashville.
