Weekly Update 07/21/2020
Greetings!
We were happy to welcome Adam & Mary Rae to membership on Sunday. While it looked a little different in presenting them in the three weekend gatherings, the result was the same, with the body joyfully welcoming them to membership at South Woods. I wish we could have had them receive your handshakes and hugs but obviously, that isn’t happening just yet. Do let them know you’re thankful that they’re officially members of the body.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will have copies of Dane Ortlund’s superb book, Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers, available for each family to pick up a copy (free, one per family). We think this is one of the best books to come out in years. I’m not sure when I’ve read one that has encouraged me more and caused my heart to soar with worship at the thought of Christ for us. We hope to study this book as a body when we can resume some mid-week gatherings. So pick it up, read it, and feast upon the riches of Christ!

Please take a little time to check out the new features as well as the reworked older features. There are plenty of resources for studying God’s Word, info on what’s happening at church, and even some articles that might be useful. Just go to www.southwoodsbc.org to check it out! The passage we considered this past weekend, Psalm 38, staggered me as I meditated upon and studied it. This penitential lament hit right at the spot of our need in the battle with sin. I hope you found it helpful and something you can read or watch again to see the biblical pattern for walking through divine discipline. The sermon is ready for watching here: O Lord, Your Arrows!
