Weekly Update 04/19/2022

Greetings!

What a joy to gather to worship the Risen Lord this past Sunday! Easter Sunday is always a wonderful time to meet up with those who’ve been affected by the cross and resurrection of Jesus. I felt that strongly on Sunday. Thank you for your attentiveness to the preaching of the Word.

Mercy for Memphis is coming up Sunday afternoon at Shelby Farms. We’ve waited a long time for warmer weather (we may still be waiting!) so that we can walk the park and try to have gospel conversations. We’ve seen some good opportunities in the past. Join others from South Woods on Sunday from 4:00–6:00 p.m. Let’s pray for the Spirit to work through our witness.

Be sure to remember that we’re NOT having STINT or Wednesday night classes for students and children tomorrow night. We look forward on April 27th to returning to co-ed STINT classes, student classes, and children and preschool classes ALL ON THE SAME NIGHT! The adults will be reading and discussing R. C. Sproul’s helpful and readable book, The Mystery of the Holy Spirit. This is a great time to make Wednesday nights a regular time to gather with the body. Plus . . .

. . . we start back with Wednesday night family meals on April 27th! That night will be on the house! We’ll get to field test our new fellowship hall area. We will be able to have those conversations we’ve missed for 2 years. Plus, we get to follow up by joining in classes together. Can you ask for more? Well, if you’re in choir, you can attend choir practice after the service! Okay, we’re ready for everyone to be together on Wednesdays. That starts next week!

We return to the exposition in the book of Acts on Sunday, chapter 21. Pastor Chris will be preaching. Pray for him as he prepares.

Pray for a good group of our guys and some of our former pastoral interns who are in Louisville this week for Together for the Gospel. This can be a formative time of building relationships centered in the gospel of Christ. I’m thankful that these brothers are able to spend good time together worshiping with a few thousand others who hold the same gospel as central to all of life and eternity.

Blessings,
Phil N.
