Studies in Worldviews
Not everyone has a highly developed theology or philosophy, but every person has a worldview. It may be conscious or unconscious. It may be coherent or incoherent. But we all have a conceptual scheme through which we approach reality and think through life.
This series through which the youth are studying will touch on important topics in worldview thinking, such as: what is prime reality (the really real); what is external reality; what are human beings; can we know anything, and how can we know that we know it; is there such thing as ultimate right and wrong, and if so, how do we learn it; and is there a purpose to history.
Finding help from James Sire's The Universe Next Door, Ron Nash's Faith and Reason, and James E. White's Serious Times, we will also look at specific worldviews that are abundant in today's world, such as Christian Theism, Postmodernism, Nihilism, and Naturalism, so that we can learn how we can better communicate with those who disagree with us at a presuppositional level.
